A Letter from Dee

Dear Ones,

The tree is still up, the wrapping paper has become trash, the new treasures have found their new home and we are steadily working at the leftovers the kids would not take home. It is beyond my mental grasp at this point that in very few days 2011 will all be history.

The year has had some very high points and some low points. As you probably know Allie Harper made her appearance into the world on April 1 to be 3 year old Reese’s little sister. Can you have a much higher point than to welcome a new grand baby. She is wonderful—crawling everywhere and cruising a lot. So many big changes in her 8 months! We marvel at big sister Reese’s art ability. Her attention to detail and space is remarkable.  Austin, who just turned 4 (already!) at Thanksgiving is a constant blur of energy and motion. He is into T-ball and is learning lots of Spanish. We were impressed when his pre-school group sang their portion of the Christmas program in nothing but Spanish.

Camille (those who know her from the shoppe) has had a trying year. After being diagnosed with breast cancer in the spring, undergoing surgery, chemo and radiation she got an early Christmas gift from her oncologist.  Her tests have shown she is cancer free. We give thanks and praise for that! She continues to improve from the side effects of the treatment. And her new hair-do is really cute!

Just as we are celebrating Camille’s recovery our energetic Nancy announced she has just been diagnosed with breast cancer. At this point her lumpectomy has not been scheduled and she anticipates only radiation. Once again, we petition our gracious Lord for healing mercy. She is very upbeat (as usual) and is ready to get the show on the road.  She needs to be in perfect condition because she also announced she is going to be a first time grandmother in July! We anticipate Nancy and Scott will be making more frequent trips to Nashville to see their daughter Rebecca and family.

I do hope you have all been in the physical store to see the new addition and remodeling. Wow! We are loving it and we have received so many lovely compliments from you. Thank you! Now I just need to keep my banker happy!  New fabric continues to come in and new samples are being made and hung. Come in and check it out. You really don’t want to miss a thing!

I hope you take time to reflect on 2011—count the many blessings, look at what we are to learn from our trials and even be thankful for them. Keep your loved ones close. Stay in touch with friends and family for in the end they and your relationship are what really matter. Be grateful you are an American—even with the many trials we face. (Phil and I just returned from time in India to tour and do Polio immunizations through Rotary.  We have so many blessings in this country we are totally unaware of.)

I do wish you a very blessed and joyous New Year and make 2012 the best it can possibly be!

Hugs to each of you,

Dee
